Hosted by Max Sclair, Vice President for Human Resources, Brookdale Hospital and the Schulman and Schachne Institute honored 432 employees who have attained from 10 to 45 years of service. The program was held in the Sonja and Dr. Alvin I. Kahn Auditorium, with a reception following in the hospital cafeteria.
Leading the list was 45 year veteran Sal Panza from the Engineering Department who came to Brookdale soon after he emigrated from Naples. “Brookdale was my family then and is still part of my family now,” said Mr. Panza. He was followed by 40 year veterans Herbert Cohen – Pharmacy, Leatha David – Same Day Surgery Recovery, Juan DeJesus – Housing, William Johnson – Admitting, Carolyn Reardon – Laundry & Linen and Francisco Santiago – Radiology. 18 employees who have served 35-years, 7 for 30 years, 28 for 25 years, 88 for 20 years, 172 for 15 and 81 for 10 years were also recognized fortheir years of service.
Among those honored was Dr. Richard J. Fogler, Sr. Vice President, Chief Medical Officer and Chairman of the Department of Surgical Services. He received a certificate and pin for 35 years of service although he has actually been at Brookdale for 42; seven of which he spent completing an internship and surgical residency program. “I arrived at Brookdale in 1968 thinking I would spend a year, but that didn’t seem to work out and I have never regretted it,” said Dr. Fogler
Executive Vice President and COO, Bruce Flanz and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Dr. Alvin I. Kahn emphasized that the longevity and dedication of those honored demonstrates that Brookdale is fulfilling its Vision and Mission through commitment and teamwork. “We would not be here without you; your exemplary dedication and hard work are the backbone of our hospital and for that, we thank you,” stated Mr. Flanz.
