Last month, the Lefferts/Liberty Kiwanis Club and members of HeartShare Human Services visited Jamaica Hospital to distribute handmade dolls to children in the Pediatric Unit.
“We really glad that we were able to do something that would bring comfort to hospitalized children,” said Carol Verdi, Kiwanis Member and Vice President of Educational Services at HeartShare. “The dolls are great for the children and can also be used by doctors to explain medical procedures they may have to undergo.”
A relative of Kiwanis Club member created and cut the doll pattern, while developmentally delayed individuals from HeartShare later stuffed and dressed them.
