On Wednesday, December 2, employees from Soaringwords, a nonprofit organization that inspires sick children and their families to heal, and volunteers from JetBlue Airways made a very special and uplifting visit to Jamaica Hospital’s Pediatric Unit. The group, wearing bright and warm smiles, distributed SoaringQuilts and SoaringPillows to over a dozen children.
“All of the gifts we gave out were decorated with an inspirational message from JetBlue volunteers and people from the community,” explained Lisa Honig Buksbaum, CEO and Founder of Soaringwords. “It’s important for hospitalized children to remain optimistic about their conditions. It’s easy to lose hope in these circumstances. That's what JetBlue's Light Up a Life campaign is all about. 12,000 JetBlue employees, in 60 cities, will be donating quilts to children in local hospitals to inspire them to heal.”
Soaringwords’ mission is to lessen the impact of serious illness by connecting ill children and their families to a community of compassionate and caring volunteers who inspire them to “Never give up!” Visit www.soaringwords.org to learn more.
