Have you or a member of your family been affected by a stroke? If the answer is yes, the American Stroke Association registered “Stroke of Luck” group at Brookdale provides, support, comfort and education for those living with the after effects of a stroke. Meetings are held every first Monday of the month from 2:30 pm to 3:30 pm in the conference room on the tenth floor of the Community Health Center (CHC) building.
Attendees have the opportunity to share experiences and interact with other stroke victims who already are learning coping mechanisms and other tools necessary to lead a normal life after a stroke. Informative lectures are presented by physicians, physical therapists and/or nurses on topics such as: rehabilitation, coping, prevention and nutrition, among others.
There is also time for just plain fun and refreshments too. The recent celebration of a stroke survivor's 96th birthday was definitely a spirit booster for everyone. Above all offered, patients come to the meetings for SUPPORT and that takes top priority on the agenda.
