PS 268 DONATES TO BROOKDALE

Brookdale_logo2 On June 18th, four graduating fifth graders from PS 268 and their teacher, presented a $750 check to Vito Buccellato, VP for Patient Care Services and Long Term Care, Dr. Lewis Marshall, Chairman of Brookdale’s ED, Mary Hayes, RN, Director or Nursing for the ED and other members of the staff.  This generous donation was raised through the school's Penny Harvest Campaign and will be utilized by Brookdale Hospital to purchase diversionary activities items for the children while they are being cared for in the Pediatric Emergency Department.

The children could have picked  any number of organizations as a recipient but ultimately chose Brookdale to receive the majority of the funds. Ps268 “The children of PS 268 decided to make Brookdale’s Pediatric ED the beneficiary of their campaign because many of them have been Brookdale ED patients and have witnessed first-hand how hard the doctors and nurses work to make them better,” said their teacher, Ms. Jackie Bataille-Kersaint

After the presentation, Ms. Hayes took the children into the Pediatric Emergency Room where they got to meet the doctors and nurses.  After their tour, the kids were treated to snacks and spent time sharing stories with members of the staff. A good time was had by all.
