Flushing Hospital Medical Center Welcomes 300Millionth Person Born in US
Whoever coined the phrase it’s a small world after all could not have been further from the truth. On Tuesday October 17, 2006, the United States welcomed its 300millionth human being. Throughout NYC, hospitals staked a claim as to which one would take the title as the home of the 300millionth person born.
The contenders in this battle all had one thing in common- they were all born at 7:46am on October 17, 2006, which according to United States Census department was the estimated time of arrival for this milestone American. Born at exact 7:46 was Flushing Hospitals own Joana Palaguachi. Baby Palaguachi weighed in at 5 pounds, 6 ounces and was 19.5inches long. Maria Palaguachi was ecstatic to know that she could have given birth to the 300millionth American. Joana, who is the first child born to Maria Palaguachi, is tied for the 300millionth slot with 2 other newborns delivered at New York Presbyterian, and Elmhurst Hospital.
In any case we welcome baby Palaguachi into the world and into the "Flushing Alumni" family.
